One of my favorite spots in the entire world is Parker and Otis in downtown Durham. Parker and Otis is a place that my mother found a few years ago when she was exploring the North Carolina area, and it is one of her favorites. Not only is the food incredibly- the grilled cheese and tomato soup, the cheddar biscuits; they are life changing. You can find pretty much everything that you would ever want; stationary, wine, art, and everything in-between.
Parker and Otis is one of those stores that you walk right in and am instantly entranced by the barnyard chic hits restored warehouse aesthetic. Not to mention that Parker and Otis has one of the best coffee bars that I have ever seen, specialty vanilla and lavender lattes are absolutely to die for.
Wandering around Parker and Otis, one can easily kill a few hours. Hidden treasures are abound the store, and everything is unique and can ensure that you are going to be satisfies with whatever you decide you wanna buy, the customer service is amazing, I recently bought something damages without realizing it; I returned the next day (sans receipt I might add, I know how foolish of me) in hopes of a refund or exchange, they quickly apologized for the inconvenience and returned it. Also, the art section is incredible and it is safe to say that all of the paintings and prints, I buy in the future will be from here. While it is a bit of a trek from campus, it is a great place to escape and get away, especially if you are looking for a homey little hideaway, and if you are looking for something totally unique, this is definitely the place to go.
